A Day at the Pool
I took the kids to my grandmother's pool (she passed away at the end of March). It was tough being there. I kept missing her standing at the back porch window. That is where she would always stand to watch her great-grandkids swim. She did the same thing when I was a kid. That day though, I looked up and the blind was pulled. I couldn't help but cry a little. Her presence is missed.

Thankfully, my kids aren't as sentimental or as affected by the loss as I am. They had a wonderful time playing in the pool. Hannah had spent the night at my mother-in-law's house, so "grandma" brought her to the pool. She had also taken Hannah to WalMart the day before to buy some new pool toys. The only thing that worries me about toys in the pool, is that my son cannot swim. He had 6 weeks of swimming lessons last summer, but he hates water in his face and had a hard time overcoming his fears. The concern about the toys is that the toy floats off into the deep end and he tries to go after it. I finally had my daughter take out toys that they weren't playing with at that moment. I'll be glad when he's a little older and can overcome some of his fears, so that he can learn to swim. That way I won't have to watch him every second.

Grandma not only brought Hannah, she brought sandwiches, chips and drinks. So we all had a little pool side picnic. Dalton though, would get out of the pool, take a bite of his sandwich, take a sip of his drink and then turn around and get back into the pool. After doing this a few times, I had to make him sit on the side of the pool and finish his sandwich in one sitting.
