Winning Layouts

Last month I participated in a couple of layout challenges on Scrappin' Fun. One challenge was based on a sketch and the other was a "freestyle" challenge. I love sketches, so there was no intimidation with that challenge, but the "freestyle" challenge that my friend Melissa put forth was very intimidating. After giving her much unintentional grief, I managed to give it a shot. To my pleasant surprise, both of my entries received the most votes. I have to say that I was very flattered. The ladies in this group do such amazing work, so to be acknowledged by these ladies is quite humbling. I have to say that I was very pleased with how they turned out. I was especially please with the freestyle layout. I had never done anything like this before, but it will always be one of my favorite layouts of all time. Not for the design, or the colors, or the embellishments, but for the fact that it forced me to sit and really think about all of the wonderful things about my daughter. I get so into the who, when, where, what, and why, that I don't stop to share the deepest of my thoughts when I scrap. This challenge will certainly cause me to think about doing this more often when I scrapbook.
