Play Date Cafe Challenge & Let's Scrap Sketch

I think this is the first time I've ever played along with this challenge and it was a challenge.  Limiting a scrapbook layout to just three colors, one of which was white, wasn't easy.  However, I'm really pleased with how it came out.

Here's a layout that I made using the 11-3 sketch from Let's Scrap.

I also combined it with the Play Date Cafe Color Challenge #54.
To create the three round embellishments, I used the "Hot Diggity" MyAcrylix Stamp Set.  For the frog, I stamped it on White Daisy cardstock two times using Sweet Leaf Exclusive Ink.  I punched out one frog with a 2" Marvy circle punch and then trimmed away the back legs of the other frog and threw them away.  I then used 3D foam tape to adhere the top of the frog to the frog on the circle base.  I sponged Sorbet Exclusive ink on the edges of the White Daisy cardstock circle and then distressed the edges with a distressing tool.  I added the pen detail along the edge of the circle.  I stamped the bee in Chocolate Exclusive ink, cut it out and adhered to the circle base.  I added Glitz Stardust Glitter Glue to the wings and some additional bug trail penning.  I then adhered the completed circle to the Sorbet B+T paper from Close To My Heart's "Perfect Day" My Reflections Level 2 paper pack (no longer available) that was also punched out with a 2.25" Marvy circle punch and sponged the edges with Sorbet ink and lightly edged with Black ink.  The sentiments were stamped with Cocoa  Exclusive ink on White Daisy cardstock, cut out, and inked with Sweet Leaf  Exclusive ink.  The sentiments are from three different stamp sets: "Ticket to Ride" (NLA), "Hot Diggity", and "Treetops".  You can see a little of my journaling block in the bottom left corner.  I used the stitch stamp from the "Lifetime" MyAcrylix stamp set (from the Passages Workshop-on-the-Go kit-no longer available) and Sweet Leaf Exclusive ink to create the lines on the journaling block.  I then inked the edges with Sorbet Exclusive ink and used the distressing tool to distress the edges before adhering it down to a piece of B+T paper from the "Emporium" My Reflections Level 2 paper pack (also no longer available).

I basically repeated the same process for the other two circle embellishments, except the bird was stamped twice on White Daisy cardstock, once in Sorbet Exclusive ink and again in Black Exclusive ink.  I trimmed out the Sorbet-colored bird, except for the feet and beak.   I edged the Daisy White cardstock circle with Sweet Leaf ink and adhered it with foam tape onto Sweet Leaf cardstock.   The fish was also stamped twice, but one was rolled in two ink colors, first with Sweet Leaf and then in Sorbet.  As you can see, I then cut out the fish minus the fins.  I stamped both the music notes and worm in Cocoa Exclusive ink.

I think this picture is fairly self-explanatory...just stamping twice in Sweet Leaf and Cocoa Exclusive inks and layering one on top of the other.  I love this stamp set...just the coolest looking trees.  The stamp set is fittingly called "Treetops".

This paper is actually a 2" x 12" White Daisy cardstock strip that was embossed with my Big Shot and a new SU! Embossing Folder, called Vintage Wallpaper.  After embossing the paper, I sponged it with Sorbet Exclusive ink all over, then sanded it moderately.  I then sponged Sweet Leaf Exclusive ink, concentrating primarily on the white areas created from sanding.  I then sponged Sorbet Exclusive ink along the edges and then lightly edged it with Black Exclusive ink.  Finally, I put Glitz Stardust Glitter Glue on my finger and smeared it along the paper, trying to allow some to catch along the raised areas.  I repeated this until the glitter had been applied along the length of the paper.

I created the title by stamping letters from the "Friendship Alphabet - Large" MyAcrylix stamp set in Cocoa Exclusive ink onto White Daisy cardstock and trimming them out into squares.  Then I sponged Sorbet Exclusive ink along the edges and lightly edged the blocks with Cocoa Exclusive ink.  Each one of the letters, except the "L" is adhered with 3D foam tape.  The "Dartmoor" strip below is simply handwritten on White Daisy cardstock, edged with Sweet Leaf Exclusive ink, embellished with two pewter mini-brads and adhered to the base.

The "L" is actually adhered to the first of two 4"x6" Memory Protectors Flip Flaps...making room for SIX pictures!

    4. Thank you soooooooooooooo much for posting the picture with the Flip Flaps. I now feel like I have a better idea of how to incorporate Flip Flaps. I just love how you put the L on the Flip Flap. "Thank you" doesn't seem to be a strong enough sentiment for how grateful I feel for your help with this. It is times like this when I wish I could find the words to express my gratitude. You are a total gem!!!
      Hugs to you,
      Gail
