May's Stamp of the Month Blog Hop..."Friendship Bouquet"

Welcome to the CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!
May 2012's Stamp of the Month is called.....
****Friendship Bouquet****

The blog hop makes a circle so if you are starting here just continue until you make your way back and you will have made it through them all.  If you have already started and are coming from Shirley Ross's blog, "Mom 'n Me Scrap"then you are on the right track.

This stamp set was pretty straight-forward for me.  I knew that I wanted to make a card and I knew that I wanted to watercolor.  But as I often do, I went to the internet for some inspiration and found this photo.
Sunflower cards
So I broke out my ink pads and waterbrush and here's what I came up with.

I extended the flower stem by masking the cardstock with a post-it note and then stamping the flower upside down, connecting the stems.
I created the ribbon simply by cutting the wide chocolate striped grosgrain ribbon into strips.
Here's a look at the entire stamp set.

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper: White Daisy CS, Moonstruck CS, Sunflower CS

Remember, if you love what you've seen so far along your SOTM Blog Hop journey, and you want your own "Friendship Bouquet" stamp set or want to get it for the amazingly low price of $5, be sure to contact your Close To My Heart Independent Consultant.  If you don't already have a consultant, I'd love to be yours.  You can find details on the "Stamp of the Month" by clicking on the "Promotions" tab at the top of the page or purchase your SOTM here.  Of course, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

If you have time, take a moment or two to check out the rest of my blog.  If you enjoy your visit, then please consider "Following Me", signing up to receive blog updates, and/or leaving a comment (we all love comments...the nice ones anyway), then be sure to continue along on the hop by heading over to  Sarita Schraeder's blog, "Blessed Scrapper" and check out her gorgeous creation.

If for some reason you get lost along the way, you can always find a list of all this month's CTMH SOTM Blog Hop participants on Kathleen's blog.

June's Scrapbooking Workshop Layouts

Here are the layouts that we will be creating at June's Monthly Scrapbooking Workshop.  Last month I was behind, but now I'm a month ahead.  Woo-hoo!!!  That never happens.  However, I have had something I don't get too much of....time!  I've snuck away to a wonderful scrapbook retreat called Escape to Create in Pt. St. Lucie!  I'll be back later to tell you about it, but since being here, I managed to finish both layouts.

Layout #1 - This layout is the featured project in the Workshop-on-the-Go Guide with a few alterations. (Click on any image to see it larger and in more detail.)

A close-up.
Another close-up of the wood badge buttons.
I stamped white daisy pigment ink over the image that was stamped in lagoon ink, to help bring out the detail of the image.
Layout with photos.  I added another mat for the focal picture.

I added a flip flap to my final layout.  Love them!
Layout #2 - This layout will be my creation using the Seaside Wooden Shapes and Kick Back Stamp set.
This layout is based on a sketch from "Sketches for Scrapbooking" Vol. 8 by Debbie Sanders and Allison Davis.

Space for an additional photo or journaling.

For the complete supply list and additional details and projects, please click on the Class Schedule tab at the top of the page or click here.

The workshop will be at my home from 6:30 until about 9:30 (give or take) on Friday, June 1st.  If you would like to attend, please call or email me by Sunday, May 20th or go to my website and select June workshop to place your order.

Hope to see you there. :)

H2H Challenges: Photo Inspiration

Wow!  Does time go by fast!  It's time for another challenge over at Heart 2 Heart!  This week is an inspiration photo!

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create a CAS (clean and simple) card, as I just love how they look.  So I checked out a few websites for some inspiration and decided to use the sketch from this past week's Clean & Simple Stamping sketch #187 (see below).

I have to tell you, I absolutely love the color palette this spring.  Lots of tropical colors, pinks, oranges, greens...all of which can be found in the photo for this week's challenge (also below). Of course, the colors drew my attention first, but then my eye was drawn to the flowers on the wall.  So here is what I came up with.

See the flower on the right?  I wasn't thinking and I used a glue pen to adhere it to the cardstock.  However, the liquid glue made the ink run.  Funny thing though, I liked how it looked.  One of those "happy accidents".

Here's the inspiration photo at Heart 2 Heart...

and the sketch that my card was based on...

To play along, all you have to do is 1) follow the rules (use the photo for inspiration and use mostly CTMH products) and 2) link your project back to Heart 2 Heart from your blog post or online gallery.  If you are linking from a blog, you must link directly to the actual post, not your entire blog.  You also need to mention H2H in your blog post.  Finally, we do ask that you consider turning off word verification, as it does make it easier for the design team to leave comments, as well as visitors to your blog. ;)

In order to be considered for the Top 10 award, you must link your project for this or any of this month's H2H challenges by 10 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month.

Don't have any CTMH products?  That's an easy fix!  Simply contact your local CTMH consultant (or go here to find one near you) or you can place an order by going to my website.

Now it's your turn.  I can't wait to see how you are inspired by this photo. :)

Until next time...

Bittersweet

Remember this little girl from the layout I posted yesterday?

Well, here she is today.
Her best friend took this picture the other day after straightening her hair.  I can't get over how much older she looks.

I'm so proud of my baby. She's even more beautiful on the inside than she is on the outside. But I can't help but feel a little sad that she's growing up. :(

Special "Dotty for You" Blog Hop

Welcome to a special edition Blog Hop for the promotional paper collection called...
****Dotty for You****

Starting tomorrow...April 17th...when you purchase $35 or more in current Close To My Heart product, you will have the opportunity to purchase a special 24 sheet paper collection called Dotty for You for only $5...that's a $19.95 value!

If that wasn't a fabulous enough offer, if you host a home gathering, real or virtual, that totals $400 or more in sales, you will receive the paper pack for FREE!  That's on top of the minimum $60 in hostess rewards, as well as at least one half price item that you would earn.  Another way to earn this beautiful paper collection for free is to become a Close To My Heart consultant.  Whichever way you choose, you need to act soon.  This paper collection is only available until May 31st or while quantities last.  I have a feeling that it won't make it until the 31st, so sooner may be better than later. ;)

This hop highlights this paper collection and I think you're going to love it!  It is like most blog hops and makes a circle. So, if you are starting here just continue until you make your way back and you will have made it through them all.  If you have already started and are coming from Rachel Ventura's blog, "Happy Scrappin' Squad"then you are on the right track.

Here is one of many layouts that I've created with this bright, cheery and fun collection.  I will be revealing the other pages throughout this promotional period.

My layout is based on this great sketch from Sketch Support.
The idea for the "curled" banner (which was it started as), came from this layout at Sketch  Support.
The way I cut and layered this flower was inspired by a card in the 2011 Fall/Winter CTMH Idea Book.
Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper: Dotty for You, Sky CS
Stamps Used: Card Word Puzzle, A Typeface, Hit the Spot (retired)
Inks: Grey Flannel, Grey WoolSmoothie, Sweet Leaf, VersaMark
Embellishments: Lagoon Mini-medley (retired), Dimensional Elements Alphabet (E, G, O, R, S, U), White Daisy Embossing Powder, Prisma Glitter, Silver Glitz Glitter Gel
Here's a look at the entire paper collection
(The back of each of these sheets has a polka dot pattern in the following coordinating colors: Smoothie, Sunset, Sweet Leaf, Grey Wool, and Creme Brulee)

If you love what you've seen so far along this special Blog Hop, and you want your own "Dotty for You" paper collection for as low as $5 or even for free, be sure to contact your Close To My Heart Independent Consultant.  If you don't already have a consultant, I'd love to be yours.  You can find details on the "Promotions" tab at the top of my blog, or by clicking on the "Dotty for You" picture in the right column of my blog page.  You can also go straight to my website and start shopping to earn your paper collection for free, so you can start creating with this gorgeous paper pack!  Of course, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

H2H Challenges: Sketch

Time for another challenge over at Heart 2 Heart!  This week is one of my favorite kinds of challenges....SKETCHES!  Prior to sketches, the majority of the time I spent on a project was planning it.  How will I lay out the design?  Where to put this photo and where to put that sentiment?  Sometimes the trouble planning would prevent me from creating anything at all!  Sometimes, now I don't need any help.  However, whenever I'm struggling with a project or need to get my creative mojo flowing, I look for a sketch.

The sketch this week is perfect for a card, but I chose to modify it for a scrapbook page.  If you've followed my blog for awhile, you know that I don't do too many single page layouts.  I am definitely a two-page kind of gal.  However, there was a story that I wanted to preserve, so I knew this sketch would be perfect for documenting it.

Here is my layout and the sketch is below.

CTMH Supplies Used:
Paper: Grey Wool CS,  Buttercup CS, Colonial White CS, Dotty for You B&T (available April 17th)
Non-CTMH Supplies Used:
ATG Adhesive (Scotch)

The front of the journaling tag reads...
April 6, 2012
Today I took you to pick up your glasses.  After you put them on, you walked over to the eye chart and proceeded to read every line on the chart with 100% accuracy.  I was so happy, I cried.  You were so happy you said, "I can't get the smile off my face."

I also have an apology to my son on the back of the tag for him to find years from now.  An apology for not realizing that he couldn't see.  Two weeks ago, he failed his eye test when he went in for his doctor's appointment for his ADHD.  I immediately took him to the eye doctor, where I found out that he could not even read the second line of the eye chart!   His grades have suffered recently and now I can't help but wonder how many times we got on to him for not "focusing", when in actuality he literally couldn't focus.

Now he has glasses and just try to get him to take them off.  He loves them!  And a little funny note, when he picked them out he stated that he wanted "Leonard glasses".  If you follow "The Big Bang Theory", you'll know what that means. LOL
I created the title by a technique that I learned from my upline, Sherri Tozzi's blog.  I simply stamped on the Dimensional Elements with a swirl stamp and then went over the swirls with liquid glass, covering not only the stamped image, but also some of the surround white areas.  After the liquid glass dries, simply sponge ink colors onto the letters, starting with the lightest color first.  Lastly, wipe off the residual ink and voila!
Here's the sketch that my layout was based on.

Love the paper?  This is part of the Dotty for You special that is available for customers on April 17th.  You can find details at the top of my blog under promotions.  I'll be back later this week as a part of a blog hop featuring this beautiful paper line.

Until next time...

A new workshop! "Cards Etc."

I've tried to hold card classes in the past, but there just wasn't enough interest.  However, in the last couple of months, there have been a few people who have expressed a desire to attend a card class.  So I decided to start one.  Having the kind of attitude expressed in the movie, "Field of Dreams"..."Schedule it and they will come."  LOL

I'm going to call this workshop, "Cards, Etc.", because I hope to not only make cards, but 3D projects created with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, as well as decorated boxes, frames, etc.

All of the guidelines and "rules" can be found here or by clicking the club info tab at the top of this page.

Here are the projects we will make next month.

I'm going to hold this workshop on Saturday, May 5th from 3-5 p.m.  Please RSVP by Monday, April 23rd to insure enough time to order and prepare necessary.  If you would like to attend the workshop, please call or email me, or rsvp through my Meetup.com website.  Hope to see you there!

Until next time...
