1) Tommy is the name of one of my brothers. Tommy is only 2 1/2 years younger than me and we grew up together. We were a pair. Tammy and Tommy. My youngest brother is Samuel. So we're Tom, Tam, and Sam. Nice, huh? Considering my brother and I were born in the days of hippies, I think we got off pretty easy.
2) Probably the greatest man I have ever known was named Thomas...but called Tommy. Thomas Burke was my paternal grandfather. He helped to raise my brother Tommy and I. Considering we weren't blood related, he could not have been more loving and more caring than if he had actually given birth to us (yes, I know that wasn't possible).
3) Because of these two wonderful men, when I was pregnant with my son, I wanted his name to be Thomas. However, since I gave my daughter her first name, and my husband gave her her middle name, we had a deal that he got to give our son his first and I would give the middle name. So my son's middle name is Thomas, too. Just one more reason to love "Tommy".
4) Another reason I love Tommy, but of course, not quite on the same scale, if I'm perfectly honest...is this wonderful paper pack by Close To My Heart called Tommy. I think I also love it because it reminds me of my grandfather who served in the Navy during WWII and whose family lived off the water, both as a source of food for him and his 11 siblings, but later as a commercial fisherman. I have fond memories of fishing with my grandfather. Granted the paper isn't specific to fishing, but it is nautical, so it can work for fishing pictures, lighthouses, beaching, rafting, boating, navy and more. In fact, when I was working with it, I even thought, "Wouldn't this make great paper for a layout about a Disney Cruise?!" One day....
Anyway, on to the point of my post...
Below are two layouts that we will be making at this month's scrapbook workshop. This is a closeup of one of the page elements on the first layout. If you want to see it in it's entirety, head over to my facebook page. What can I say? It's a shameless plug....want to drum up some "likes". Hint, hint. ;)
|Sorry for the poor color rendering in this pic. I tried natural light, but obviously I don't have it down yet. I probably should have tried scanning, but it doesn't work too well for thicker layouts.|
Semi-Annual Open House to be held on Saturday, July 27th from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Starting August 1st, there will also be some changes/additions to my business...all good things. So be on the lookout for that, as I will release that information throughout the month.
Until next time....
