April's Stamp of the Month..."My Sunshine"

Welcome to the CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!
April 2013's Stamp of the Month is called.....
****My Sunshine****

The blog hop makes a circle so if you are starting here just continue until you make your way back and you will have made it through them all.  If you have already started and are coming from Vicki Price's blog, "The Price of Paper"then you are on the right track.

For my card, I was inspired by both the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  However, in all honesty, this stamp set is pretty inspirational on it's own.  In fact, it's probably my favorite set of all the SOTM's offered in the Spring/Summer 2013 Close To My Heart idea book.
I'm submitting this card to Catered Crop.
Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers:  Clementine, Buttercup CSWhite Daisy CS
Stamps Used: My Sunshine
Inks: Buttercup, Creme Brulee, Honey, Goldrush, Twilight
Embellishments: Harvest Baker's Twine, Paradise Baker's Twine, Silver Shimmer Trim, Coral and Cracked Corn Mini Mosaics (Suze Weinberg)
Here's a look at the entire stamp set...

...and here's the sketch I used.

Remember, if you love what you've seen so far along your SOTM Blog Hop journey, and you want your own "My Sunshine" stamp set or want to get it for the amazingly low price of $5, be sure to contact your Close To My Heart Independent Consultant.  If you don't already have a consultant, I'd love to be yours.  You can find details on the "Stamp of the Month" by clicking on the "Promotions" tab at the top of the page or purchase your SOTM here.  Of course, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

If you have time, take a moment or two to check out the rest of my blog.  If you enjoy your visit, then please consider "Following Me", signing up to receive blog updates, and/or leaving a comment (we all love comments...the nice ones anyway), then be sure to continue along on the hop by heading over to Sheila Bennett's blog, "Sheila's Stamping Stuff" and check out her project.

If for some reason you get lost along the way, you can always find a list of all this month's CTMH SOTM Blog Hop participants on Kathleen's blog.

Happy hopping!

Hey Handsome

Time for another challenge at Heart 2 Heart.  This week, it's all about mustaches.  Create something that features mustaches.  I don't know about you, but when I first saw that this was the challenge, I think I had a bit of a panic attack.  First of all, I had no idea what to create.  Second, I don't own a mustache stamp.  So after venting my panic with my friend, Tamra Pope, I decided that I would create something using the mustache on the Cricut Artiste cartridge by Close To My Heart.

Being that mustaches are so inherently masculine, I knew that I wanted to create something "manly"...no froo froo, neutral colors, etc. I decided to use the Cricut Craft room to create a 4" x 5 1/4" rectangle from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge [rectangle1] and weld three mustaches from the Cricut Artiste cartridge [shift][accent2][m key].  I did end up cutting 1/16" off each side to remove the rounded corners (that I decided that I didn't like after all).  Next, I used the smallest letters in the Trinity stamp set to create the "hey handsome" sentiment and created a doodle frame with a .05 black journaling pen.  Afterwards, I matted the kraft piece onto black cardstock using foam tape and then onto a white daisy 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card. [accent2][shift][rectangle1]

After creating the basic card, I knew that I wanted to give this card to my son, so to make it a little more fun, I added an additional mustache with a spring over the middle mustache.  However, before sticking the spring down, I sponged black ink onto the white spring base and filled in where needed with a black craft pen so that it was a little more camouflaged against the black cardstock.

Since I decided to give the card to my son, I thought it would also be fun to cut out a few extra mustaches (okay...a lot of mustaches) so that my son could add them to straws for a bit of fun. Besides, they made a cute photo prop. ;)

Supplies used for card (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Kraft CSWhite Daisy CSBlack CS
Stamps Used: Trinity Alphabet
Inks: Black
Other: Cricut Artiste, Cricut Art Philosophy, Adhesive SpringSpongePaper Trimmer3D Foam Tape, ATG Adhesive (Scotch), Black 0.5 Millennium Writer (Zig-EK Success)

Now, before you head off to create your own "hairy" goodness, I need to remind you of a couple of things.  The first thing is about the "rules" of the Heart 2 Heart challenges.
  1. Use mostly CTMH products.  After all, this is a challenge blog created and sponsored by Close To My Heart consultants. ;)
  2. Incorporate this week's challenge...Mustaches.
  3. Link your project back to Heart 2 Heart from your blog post or online gallery.  If you are linking from a blog, you must link directly to the actual post, not your entire blog.
  4. You also need to mention H2H in your blog post.
  5. Finally, we do ask that you consider turning off word verification, as it does make it easier (and less time consuming) for the design team to leave comments, as well as visitors to your blog. ;)  And personally, it usually takes me two or three tries before I get it right....frustrating for sure.
Don't have any CTMH products?  That's an easy fix!  Simply contact your local CTMH consultant (or go here to find one near you) or you can place an order by going to my website.   If you'd like an Idea Book, you can either email me (if you're local) or simply use the Paypal button in the side bar.

The second thing that I wanted to remind you about is March Madness at H2H.  We are giving away a few different prizes this month on the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog.  One for first time (non-CTMH consultant) participants and one for both the consultant and non-consultant who plays the most during the month of March.  Be sure to check out this post at Heart 2 Heart to read all about the rules.  In addition to prizes from Heart 2 Heart, some of the designers are offering blog candy.  I gave away blog candy two weeks ago and plan to give away some more again, but for now, to find out if any other designers are offering blog candy, you will have to go check out their blogs.

So get out there and create!

Until next time...

Blog Candy Winner

As promised, I am announcing the win
ner for my blog candy that I announced last week.  First, I want to share with you that I found a nice little free software program called "The Hat" from Harmony Hollow Software that I used to randomly draw a winner.  So here it goes...drum roll please. ;)

The winner is.....
Hansi, I'll send you an email to get your prize choice and shipping information.  If for some reason you don't receive it, feel free to contact me.

In the meantime, I hope all the participants enjoyed playing along this past week.  If you haven't joined the Spring Forward challenge yet, you have until the end of the month to do so.  Be sure to head over to Heart 2 Heart this week for a new challenge....Go Green.

I'm probably going to be missing in action for the next week. I have to finish grades, as the grading period is closing this week, I'm a week behind in my college class and both of my kids have orientations this week.  One who's starting middle school next year and another who's wanting to join dual-enrollment.  Whew...I'm tired already.  LOL

Until next time....

Spring Forward & Blog Candy

Do you realize that it's nearly time to set your clock forward an hour?  That's right, next Saturday night...well, actually Sunday morning, at 2 a.m.  I have a love-hate relationship with daylight savings time.  I love having more daylight in the latter part of the day, but I hate losing an hour worth of sleep. lol

In recognition of this upcoming event, as well as the fact that spring is just around the corner (March 20th), the challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week is called "Spring Forward".  Think sun, time change, spring, etc.  I'm not sure why, but I really struggled with this one.  So I had to scour the internet for some inspiration.  Since I haven't done a layout in a while (besides my workshop layouts), when I finally came across this lovely scrapbook page by Lauren Brewer, I knew that I wanted to create my own version of it.

I loved the way she cut her rays, as well as the colors she used, so I kept those elements.  However, the rest is pretty much me.  One of my favorite things about this layout was the chance to use papers from multiple paper packs.  (I've really been inspired to do that a lot lately, largely due to the video from Close To My Heart that I also linked in my Tag, You're It post.)  I acutally used four different paper packs on this layout.  Can you spy them all?
Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper:  Chantilly, Surf's Up, Scholastic, ClementineKraft CSWhite Daisy CS, Twilight CS, Buttercup CS
Stamps Used: Sightseer, Patterned Pennants, My Sunshine (avail. in April), A Tree, Chantilly WOTG
Inks: Desert Sand, Twilight, Ruby, Crystal Blue
Other: Cricut Artiste, Dimensional Elements, Cotton Candy MarkerSpongeMicro-tip ScissorsPaper Trimmer3D Foam Tape, ATG Adhesive (Scotch), Black 0.3 Millennium Writer (Zig-EK Success)

What will you create? To play along, just follow the "rules".  All you have to do to play along is...
  1. Use mostly CTMH products
  2. Incorporate this week's challenge (spring, time change, sun, etc.)
  3. Link your project back to Heart 2 Heart from your blog post or online gallery.  If you are linking from a blog, you must link directly to the actual post, not your entire blog.
  4. You also need to mention H2H in your blog post.
  5. Finally, we do ask that you consider turning off word verification, as it does make it easier (and less time consuming) for the design team to leave comments, as well as visitors to your blog. ;)
Don't have any CTMH products?  That's an easy fix!  Simply contact your local CTMH consultant (or go here to find one near you) or you can place an order by going to my website.   If you'd like an Idea Book, you can either email me (if you're local) or simply use the Paypal button in the side bar.

But HEY!  WAIT!  I'm not done!  Now this month we are also doing our crafting version of "March Madness".  Let the boys get sweaty, while we get inky. :)  We are giving away a few different prizes.  One for first time (non-CTMH consultant) participants and one for both the consultant and non-consultant who plays the most during the month of March.  Be sure to check out this post at Heart 2 Heart to read all about the rules.  (Hey, what can I say?  Just like basketball, there's got to be rules with our March Madness, too.)

But HEY!  WAIT!  I'm STILL not done! As if the prizes that Heart 2 Heart is giving away weren't enough to entice you to play along with our challenges, I'm also going to offer a bit of blog candy, too.  Here's what you have to do to enter.

  1. Link your project to H2H (instructions are on the H2H site) by 10 p.m. EST, Sunday, March 10th.
  2. Come back here and leave a comment that you have linked your project on H2H and include your entry number.
  3. Have a blog?  Want another chance to win? Then mention this week's H2H challenge, as well as my blog and blog candy on your blog, then come back here and let me know that you have done so with another comment and a direct link to your post.
A winner will be announced Monday, March 11th.  Unfortunately, I'm only shipping to US addresses.  I will do my best to contact the winner via their blog and/or email address.  However, if you see your name as the winner, feel free to contact me.  Either way, once I have your prize selection and address, I will ship your prize right out to you.

What is the prize you ask?  Well, the winner will be allowed to chose between one of the following three new items.
1) My Creations Star
2) or Sightseer Stamp Set

3) or your choice of one of the current paper packs.

Now it's your turn.  How will you be inspired by this week's challenge?  I can't wait to see.

Until next time...
