Silver and Gold Challenge

The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is Silver and Gold. I didn't want to do the first thing that comes to most people's mind...especially this time of year. Silver and gold is so timeless and even though it's super trendy right now, it works any time of year and for any theme and will never go out of style. Right now holiday themes easily come to mind, but it's perfect for wedding, graduation, and anniversary's. But metallics are the perfect accent for any themed.

To prove my point, I created a love themed card. I know I've done a lot of cards featuring Bashful cardstock, but I just love this pale shade of pink, and it paired so lovey with the gold and silver foil paper. So I decided to go with it.

Here's my creation...

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers: Silver & Gold B&TBashful CS, White Daisy CSSilver Foil, Gold Foil
Embellishments: Bashful Pearls, White & Gold Ribbon
Other: Bone Folder3D Foam Tape, Tape Runner (ATG)

We'd love to have you join us at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. Remember. Every Monday morning a new challenge is posted with the deadline to enter at midnight on the last day of the month or on the Saturday following the month's final challenge. The challenge varies from week to week and can be a color challenge, a sketch, an inspiration photo, a theme challenge, or something else. You can choose to play along every week, or just play along when the challenge moves you. The only requirements to play along are that CTMH products must be included in your submitted project (it doesn't have to be 100% CTMH and it doesn't have to be new product either) and please include a link back to H2H when you share it.

I hope to see you over at Heart 2 Heart Challenges!

Be Bashful at H2H...and Free CDS File

The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is Bashful. My first thought was Close to My Heart's Color of the Year, Bashful. Bashful is a beautiful shade of pink. It seems to me to be a neutral pink, working wonderfully with both gold and silver. It's not too strong or bright, so if you're not typically a "pink person", I would still suggest you try this shade. You might be surprised.

One of the fun things about Close To My Heart cardstock, besides having a white core, is the fact that it is two-toned. I was able use two tones of the same Bashful pink for my flowers and where the original Fern color was too dark, the opposite, lighter side was perfect. I love having more choices. The one thing though that you need to consider though, when cutting your paper is that images may need to be flipped when you cut it on your Cricut. Personally, it was just easier to cut the flowers in both shades and then just use the pieces i wanted.

Here's my Bashful card...

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers: Bashful CS, Charcoal CS,  White Daisy CSFern CS, Silver Foil, Bashful Glitter Paper
Emellishments: Bitty Sparkles

Here is the Cricut CDS Cutting File for your creative pleasure. ;)

"Falling for You" Scrapbooking Workshop & Day Crop

One of my "bucket list" items is to travel to a location during October (hard to do when you're a teacher) to experience the colors of fall. I'm so envious of those that get to see that for weeks. The reds, oranges and yellows. So dreamy! Here's "fall" in Florida. Leaves gradually turn from green to brown rather slowly and then fall off the tree...in JANUARY! There's no oranges and reds and yellows. Just green to brown. Blech!

I guess that's why fall themed papers tend to be my favorite...it fills a sort of void. lol The Falling for You collection in the current CTMH Holiday Expressions is no different....it's my fave. I love the warm colors and leaves...leaves...I just love leaves. Is that weird? Haha

So I decided to offer the Falling for You collection as my November workshop. Check out the following picture and tell me what you think. If you want your own workshop kit, let me know and I can send you an invoice.

Enchantment Layout for Heart 2 Heart

"Enchantment Abounds" at Heart 2 Heart Challenges this week. As a Close To My Heart consultant the first thing that comes to my mind is the Enchantment line of the CTMH Fundamentals Collection. However, princesses and fairy tales also come to mind...but it's all up to you. Interpret this week's challenge however you want.

I decided to use a sketch (with some minor changes) from the newest How To book (layout #3) and newest Cricut Collection, "You Are Here" to create a layout. The great thing about using our Fundamentals is that all of the colors are the same tone and coordinate perfectly. There's 24 sheets of pattern paper in a pack...six designs in 12 different color combos x 2. I literally just selected the colors I wanted to work with and started cutting my paper. They just work so perfectly together.

If you have never tried Close To My Heart's Fundamentals line, THIS IS THE MONTH!!!  This month only CTMH is offering 30% off all of the Fundamental line! If you purchase an entire suite (paper, complements & ribbon), you will save 40%!!! This is an A-MAZ-ING deal! In fact, I joined CTMH in 2010 and I do not recall there ever being such a huge discount on current product. This is definitely a deal NOT to be missed! Check it out here

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers: Enchantment FundamentalsWhite Daisy CS, Gold Glitter, Black Glitter, Ruby CS, Black CS

If you'd like to make this layout, I have included the link to the free CDS file here. You will need "You Are Here" Cricut cartridge to cut the title, hearts, postage stamp and arrows.

We'd love to have you join us at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. Remember. Every Monday morning a new challenge is posted with the deadline to enter at midnight on the last day of the month or on the Saturday following the month's final challenge. Vines and Twine Challenge

This week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges, it's all about vines and twine! I chose to focus on twine.

I don't know about you, but it's almost impossible for me to create anymore without a spring board...namely Pinterest. I don't know if it's just because I don't have the time to sit and stare and contemplate and play (like I once did), or if I've just let myself become spoiled and dependent on Pinterest, sketches, etc.

I know time was an issue this time around. I've been sick this week (second time since school started back in August) and my plans to create my card at a crop crumbled when I had to miss it because I couldn't get out of bed. So while in bed (instead of the crop), I cruised Pinterest and found this card. I thought, this is simple enough. I might even be able to create a twine wreath card while sitting in bed. Well, the twine wreath was easy and fun, but I had to go to my disaster of a craft room to work on it...all the while, my husband scolding me for not being in bed. Husbands. They just don't understand. ;)

I was bummed when I discovered that my new "A Grateful Heart" stamp was one piece...but nothing that my very sharp CTMH micro-tip scissors couldn't handle. Yes...you read right. I cut the sentiment out of the center of the wreath image.

Next, I added a circle of liquid glass around the sentiment and then began laying the twine down until I was satisfied with the thickness...approximately 6 or 7 times. I only pressed the twine down in a few random spots, because I wanted the twine to be fairly loose and dimensional, but of course, secured.

Then I created the multi colored leaf by inking it first in Nutmeg, then rolling it half way in Saffron ink and then rolling just the bottom edge of the stamp in Almond ink. I used the coordinating thin cut to get the perfect...and easy...cut. I attached the leaf with a piece of 3D foam tape and then added a bow of twine to the leaf using liquid glass.

Finally, I layered my white daisy card panel on the gold foil paper. (It's a bummer that it doesn't show so well in the photograph...it's awesome in real life!) Then I attached them to the Falling for You pattern paper with more 3D foam tape and to a kraft card base.

Here's my twine wreath inspired card...

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Falling for You (Cardmaking), A Grateful Heart
Papers: Kraft CS, White Daisy CS, Gold Foil, Falling for You B&T
Inks: Black, Saffron, Almond, Nutmeg

BeYOUtiful Challenge

It's a BeYOUtiful week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges!

Close to My Heart has a GOR-GEOUS stamp set called Beautiful You, so it was the first thing to came to mind when I saw this challenge. But I used the stamp set for this card a couple of months ago and this one before that and both for H2H. So this time, I wanted to try and do something a little different than the "expected".

In deciding on a design for my card, I was inspired by all of the ideas I've been Pinning for my soon-to-be new "She Shed". I love anything shabby chic, French country, farm house, etc., which I'll be incorporating into my crafting space decor. Even though my husband hasn't been able to start working on it, due to all of the rain we've been getting, I figured I'd continue with my fave decor theme in my card design. I also used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch as my spring board.

Because I am currently so limited on crafting space, due to all my go-to supplies still in boxes from the last two crops and the chaos that ensues in preparing for them, I decided not to stamp and make my card completely in Cricut Design Space using the Flower Market collection from CTMH. Click on this link to make it for yourself.

So here is the final result and I LOVE how it turned out!

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Papers: Kraft CS, White Daisy CS, Sweet Leaf CS, Bashful CS, Blossom CS, Glacier CS, Cocoa CS (retired), Black CS
Emellishments: Clear Sparkles
Other: Flower Market Cricut Cartridge, Microtip ScissorsBone Folder, 3D & Thin Foam Tape, Tombow Adhesive Runner, Glue Pen, Scoring Board (Martha Stewart)

Again, my file is available for free. You just need to be able to access Cricut Design Space and cut...the designing is done for you.
And the sketch I used...

Marker Madness Thank You Card

Between Hurricane Irma evacuation and cleanup, illness and being overwhelmed at work, I missed the design team deadline for the "Mad about Markers" challenge at Heart 2 Heart because I simply lost track of what day it was.

I created this card using one of Close To My Heart's mini stamps and some Shin Han alcohol markers. I simply stamped the image multiple times on White Daisy cardstock and cut it to the size I wanted. Then I probably spent a couple of hours or more coloring. When I was done, I added some clear shimmer pen to some of the flowers, because this gal needs a little bling. ;)

When all of my coloring was done, I matted it to black cardstock, added the "thank you" sentiment, wrapped a piece of ribbon from the Rustic Home ribbon collection (retired) and added some sparkles.

It's not my favorite card of all time, but I'm please with how it turned out.

Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Stamps Used: Delicate Flower, Thoughtful Bird
Papers: White Daisy CS, Black CS
Inks: Black Momento
Emellishments: Rustic Home Polka Dot Ribbon, Sparkles
Markers: Barely Beige, Cherry Pink, Tender Pink, Leaf Green, Pastel Green, Peacock Blue, Colorless Blender
Other: Microtip ScissorsBone Folder, 3D Foam Tape, Paper Trimmer

Even though this challenge is closed, there's a new one every Monday. We'd love to have you join us for the next one at Heart 2 Heart ChallengesThe deadline to enter is midnight on the last day of the month or on the Saturday following the month's final challenge.
