CTMH Fundamentals Creative Collections Blog Hop

Welcome to the CTMH Fundamentals Creative Collections Blog Hop!

I am sooooo excited about this particular hop! Last year, at convention, Close To My Heart unveiled a new way to offer our paper lines. Seasonal and theme-specific papers would be highlighted in our Holiday and Seasonal Expression Idea Books, while our Annual Inspirations Idea Book would offer paper lines that had a broader, more general appeal.  I guess you could think of our papers in the Expression books as the latest, trendy fashion, while the papers in the Inspirations book is like the classic black dress or a great pair of jeans. You know, fashions that go with just about everything and just don't go out of style.  Well, that's how I feel about the Fundamentals paper line.

With just over 20 participants in this blog hop, you are sure to see many, if not all, of the Fundamental lines of paper and just how versatile they are. The hop makes a circle, so if you are started here just continue until you make your way back and you will have made it through them all. If you have already started and are coming from Brenda Lapp's blog, "Crafting for Sanity? Or Insanity?", then you are on the right track.

When I was able to preview the Seasonal Expressions Idea Book a full month before it went live in January (a perk of being a consultant), I was thoroughly excited to discover that CTMH was adding new, additional Complements collections to coordinate with the Fundamentals line from the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.  I was SUPER excited to see the "My Boy" complements, as I think masculine themed scrapbook supplies is just a little harder to come by and knew that I would just have to create layouts using them. Especially since the last several scrapbook workshops I've hosted have featured softer, more feminine designs and colors. So I'm featuring one of my six March workshop layouts for this blog hop and I just love, love, love how it turned out.
This layout features some ink splattering to help break up the empty white space and kind of help give it a messy (a.k.a. boy) feel.
I think my favorite element (besides the papers and complements) is the little mini staples...especially on the banners.

February's SOTM Blog Hop..."Easter Bunny"

Welcome to the CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!
February 2017's Stamp of the Month is called.....
****Easter Bunny****

With almost 20 participants in this blog hop and such a cute stamp set, you are sure to find lots of ideas using this month's Close To My Heart's Stamp of the Month.  The hop makes a circle, so if you are starting here just continue until you make your way back and you will have made it through them all. If you have already started and are coming from my friend, Michele Rowley's blog, "Evergreen Memories", then you are on the right track.

After perusing some of my pinned ideas on Pinterest, I rediscovered this card and was inspired by the way the trees bridged over the open area. So I thought....why can't I do the same thing but with bunnies? And hence, the following card was born.  I'm still learning how to use the alcohol markers (especially if it's not a flower), so I'm not real pleased with the coloring, but I think I'm making a little progress and I may still go back and recolor baby bunny again. ;)

The White Daisy cardstock on which the sentiment is stamped and the two big bunnies are actually one piece of cardstock. The bodies of the bunnies are adhered to a piece of patterned paper from the Hello Lovely collection.
I recently created a faux bow for the "Beautiful" layout shown here and thought it would work well on this card. Between the less-than-stellar lighting when I took these photos and the shimmer on the ribbon, it's kind of hard to see. So I thought it would help to share the photo tutorial I included for the layout instructions.
